Summit Theme: Conversation as Experiential Learning 

Experiential education, practice, and learning are the cornerstones of professional outdoor education and therapeutic practice. They are rooted in the idea that learning through direct experience is crucial for developing practical skills and insights. 

Our theme, ‘Conversation as Experiential Learning,’ is inspired by the transformative power of dialogue and interaction in shaping knowledge and practice. This summit recognises that meaningful conversations can serve as both a learning tool and a catalyst for personal and professional growth and remain central to a functioning democracy. It emphasises the role of dynamic exchange in experiential learning through conversation and active engagement. 

By prioritising conversation as a core component of the learning process, we aim to explore how collaborative dialogue, reflective discussion, and shared experiences can deepen understanding, enhance skills, and drive innovation. Through engaging conversations with practitioners, educators and academics, we seek to explore new insights and practical strategies applicable across various disciplines, ultimately fostering a more interconnected and responsive professional community.

Who is the summit for?

The summit is for all those interested in various types of experiential education practices – including but not limited to, outdoor education, outdoor therapies, alternative education, experiential conversations, educators, mental health professionals, academics, and practitioners.  

We encourage those who are passionate about working with people from diverse backgrounds to attend the summit and share their knowledge.
